My Background

Since childhood art was an escape from reality, and my best childhood memories were time spent sitting on my bedroom floor, drawing.

That love for making art remained, and although I never had formal art training, I've pursued many avenues to learn as much as I possibly could, and to this day I love exploring new art styles & mediums.

In the last six years I started teaching art classes to adult students. It was an uncertain path at first, but I soon realised that sharing my passion for art with others, was meant to be a part of  my artistic journey!

My Medium

As an artist I would hate to be restricted to just one medium or art style.

I work across a variety of mediums, such as watercolours, acrylics, charcoal and soft pastels.

And if anyone asks me to choose just one, without hesitation, my answer will always be WATERCOLOURS.

Art is an intuitive process for me.

No restrictions or preconceived ideas...

Just following my (he)art...

My Inspiration

In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, and also taking photos to use as reference in my art.

I find it easy to recognise beauty in the mundane of everyday life.

Many years ago, I had the privilege of working at a private game lodge in one of South Africa's most beautiful reserves, Sabi Sands. My love for wildlife intensified while living in the Skukuza area, and will always be my main source of inspiration.

I love capturing the detail in eyes, which is mostly my starting point in any portrait, animal or human.
